Monday now, and on Saturday we””ll be leaving to hit up the Hempfest. By this time next week we will already be on the road. That””s still unbelievable. It””s been just over a month since I decided to do this, and it””s still not sunk in completely, the task at hand.
So many people take years preparing for this type of journey, and here I am, still no “real” backpack, no wonderful REI hiking/camping gear, no boots for EITHER of us, and no really precise path to follow.
Hm, all that negativity sure doesn””t look good.
Let””s look at the positives!
Here””s what I DO have:
Heavy and clunky backpack,
40* bulky sleeping bag,
a 8 lb bulky tent,
2 yoga mats for us to sleep on,
Flint n steel,
Cotton wads for firestarting,
Doggie water bowls (4),
Droid wifi with apps,
Blackberry wifi w/camera,
Ipod which HOPEFULLY I””ll get some ebooks onto before I go,
2 Eshock collars for Honey (It was a while before I admitted it””d be better for her to feel a vibration or slightly weird shock than to get killed by a car, coyote….)
USB Chargers for all the above.
Water bottle w/compass,
2 books ””Lost Art of Walking”” and ””The Lucky One””,
Emergency fire catcher/starter,
Honey hoodie made from an old hoodie of mine. It””ll work unless it gets freezing cold out.
